Totalausfall, Resynchronisierung

Wenn man einen Totalausfall hatte, und beim nächsten Hotsync vergißt, alle eingebauten Applikationen auf 'handheld overwrites desktop' zu stellen, werden manchmal Kategorien gelöscht.

Abhilfe:

• Desktop starten
• Z.B. Memo Pad wählen
• Kategorien erzeugen ('a','b', 'c' ...)
• Die neuen Kategorien durchsehen, in einigen finden sich Einträge
• Diese Kategorien dann wieder in den ursprünglichen Namen umbenennen

a few more tips

If you lose all power to your PalmPilot (dead batteries), make sure to set the correct date before hotsyncing your data back in. If you don't all the alarms stored in your PalmPilot that have passed will go off at once. This will also happen if you set the date of your PalmPilot to before these alarms, then change it back to the correct time.

If you're having a problem with HotSync timing out before it syncs your mail, try this before each HotSync:   Hold both the down and up buttons, and tap in the upper right corner of the screen.  Tap OK on the dialog box that appears.  This turns off the "timeout" feature, and your PalmPilot will wait patiently while your mail syncs! There is a ribbon cable that the stylus tends to rub against every time it is inserted and removed. Eventually it wears through the ribbon cable and then through the copper foil of one or more leads at which point the touchscreen becomes inoperable. The all-plastic stylus does not appear to cause any wear. To avoid this problem, remove the screws holding the back on. Take care as you remove the back with some models (not Palm III's) that have a speaker wire connected. With gentle pressure, the ribbon cable can be pushed (bent) down as it comes out of the connector so that it clears the stylus. (Thanks to Rich Boyd for this tip)
